The high school horror comedy All Cheerleaders Die has been picked up for Canadian distribution from VSC through their deal with Modern Distributors. Image Entertainment will distribute to the US next year. Check out the official announcement below.

Video Services Corp (VSC) announced today that they have acquired all Canadian rights to ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE through their output deal with Modern Distributors. The high school-set comedy horror- thriller was written and directed by Lucky McKee (“May,” “The Woman”) and Chris Sivertson (“The Lost,” “I Know Who Killed Me”) and premiered this year as the opening night film in the Midnight Madness section at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film was produced by Andrew van den Houten (‘’Funeral Kings,” “The Woman”) and Robert Tonino (‘’The Woman,” “In the Family”) for Modernciné and stars Caitlin Stasey (“Reign,” “Tomorrow When the War Began”), Sianoa Smit-McPhee (“Hung”), Brooke Butler and introduces Tom Williamson. Executive producing is Arrien Schiltkamp. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release next spring in Canada, coinciding with the film’s US release through Image Entertainment.
When tragedy rocks Blackfoot High, rebellious outsider Mäddy Killian shocks the student body by joining the cheerleading squad. This decision drives a rift between Mäddy and her ex-girlfriend Leena Miller - a loner who claims to practice the dark arts. After a confrontation with the football team, Mäddy and her new cheerleader friends are sent on a supernatural roller coaster ride which leaves a path of destruction none of them may be able to escape.
The deal was negotiated on behalf of VSC by President Jonathan Gross, with Andrew van den Houten from Modern Distributors on behalf of the financiers of the picture.
VSC has had a very fruitful relationship with Modernciné and we’re very excited about “All Cheerleaders Die” – especially coming off its strong reception at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival,” commented Gross of VSC, “Andrew and his partners make quality films and this one is no exception. We are very optimistic about the Canadian release.”

He understands the marketplace and is very savvy when it comes to working with filmmakers and handling high-end genre fare. ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE is Modernciné’s most ambitious film to date and certainly a crowd pleaser. We couldn’t be in better hands,” said van den Houten of Modern Distributors.
Recent projects for Modernciné include JUG FACE, the critically-acclaimed Slamdance favorite written and directed by Chad Crawford Kinkle which was released theatrically by Modern Distributors in August. Previous to that, they produced the audience favorite FUNERAL KINGS, which debuted as an official selection at last year’s SXSW Film Festival.
